Designing Forest for All
Measuring soil pH level
REDESIGN THE EXISTING BARREN LAND
The impact of the exotic trees on the local ecosystem is significant. The accumulation of highly acidic fallen leaves has not only modified the soil chemistry but has also inhibited the growth of native plant species. As a result, there are large areas devoid of vegetation, which can further exacerbate erosion and diminish biodiversity. Addressing these issues requires careful management strategies, including potential removal or mitigation of the exotic trees, soil amendments to restore nutrient levels, and the introduction of native plant species to revitalize the area and foster ecological resilience. Monitoring the site is crucial to assess the effectiveness of these interventions and promote a healthier ecosystem.
2. SELECTION OF SPECIES
To repair and restore the land, Forest for All is designed with a diverse multitude of only native and naturalized tree species that specifically benefit the local ecology of Hong Kong. These new trees will become part of the larger ecosystem, to create beautiful scenery that will grow and thrive together with the people of Hong Kong for generations to come.

3. GREENING HONG KONG WITH THE PEOPLE OF HONG KONG
Each tree is planted by one individual participant. Together, the people of Hong Kong actively contribute to the creation of a new vibrant and diverse native species forest, which will benefit the local ecosystem for future generations to come. This collective effort not only enhances the environment but also fosters a deeper connection between the community and nature.
